KEEP THE JUNGLE GREEN: ACTION SPEAKS LOUDER THAN WORDS

MORE THAN 10.000 LITRES OF WASTE have been removed from the rain forest - within 3 years only! ACTION SPEAKS LOUDER THAN WORDS for our EcoTravel-Team in Bukit Lawang. Since 2014 we have been clearing waste left by other tour operators in Gunung Leuser National Park, Sumatra. We remove garbage during each of our jungle treks and even more thoroughly on our regular waste collection days. Once again, our initiative "KEEP THE JUNGLE GREEN" has recently sent out 22 members of EcoTravel Bukit Lawang along with 4 members of the National Park in order to clean the campsites and trekking paths. The village walking way got cleaned the next day. And even though the whole of Bukit Lawang seems to ride the "eco wave", THE CURRENT RESULT HAS BEEN RATHER SHOCKING: 35 bags of plastic waste – each holding 40 litres – and 2 bags full of glass bottles!
